I made Joseph watch The Notebook for the first time tonight. Then he saw my ugly cry for the first time. @joejoeconn
Dinner with @natador … After almost a year, this kitchen feels like it has a purpose! #thanksnat (at Natapril’s Place)
Today I was lucky enough to sit in on a lecture by fashion icon Diane Von Furstenberg. Such an inspiration! She explained that while in her early 20’s, she was unsure of her career path - ”I didn’t have a vocation, didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I just knew the kind of woman I wanted to be” - which was a strong independent woman who could take care of herself and pay her own bills. I love it! Let’s hear it for a woman who started out unsure of her talent & grew into a global brand!
She believes that there is no such thing as a weak woman. Unfortunately circumstances or outside figures often kill a womans spirit (ie an abusive mate or parent), but when a woman is faced with tragedy, her inner strength, power, and confidence rises to the occassion…. so in her words, “why wait for tragedy?”. Oh DVF, you are so right! When giving advice, she said “Never underestimate the power of words…. Words are magic”. love love love.

This picture was taken of DVF at the very beginning of her career. She was posing against the plain white cube, but decided to spice up the photo by writing the phrase “Feel like a woman, wear a dress!”. It was apparently the first thing that came to her mind when writing…. and it has been the DVF motto for over 30 years now!
talk about magic…
As of February, this is where I live…. The good ol’ Golden State. I took this picture as my friend & I were finally zooming across the state line on our trip from Nashville. Not pictured : my entire apartment in the back of my car.
